Researchers in Laguna San Ignacio (UABCS) reported the following estimated numbers of gray whales during their 1 March 2023 count:
- 27 mother/calf pairs and 139 singles for a total of 193 whales
Gray Whale Count on 21 February
Researchers in Laguna San Ignacio (UABCS) reported the following estimated numbers of gray whales during their 21 February 2023 count:
- 28 mother/calf pairs and 118 singles for a total of 174 whales
Gray Whale Count on 17 February
Researchers in Laguna San Ignacio (UABCS) reported the following estimated numbers of gray whales during their 17 February 2023 count:
- 29 mother/calf pairs and 89 singles for a total of 147 whales
Gray Whale Count on 11 February
Researchers in Laguna San Ignacio (UABCS) reported the following estimated numbers of gray whales during their 11 February 2023 count:
- 21 mother/calf pairs and 57 singles for a total of 99 whales

- 14 mother/calf pairs and 6 singles for a total of 34 whales

- 10 mother/calf pairs and 16 singles for a total of 36 whales

Researchers in Laguna San Ignacio reported the following estimated numbers of gray whales during their 19 February 2022 count:
- 4 mother/calf pairs and 179 singles for a total of 187 whales
Gray Whale Count on 11 February
Researchers in Laguna San Ignacio reported the following estimated numbers of gray whales during their 11 February 2022 count:
- 9 mother/calf pairs and 111 singles for a total of 134 whales
- In addition, the team surveyed just outside the lagoon and found 6 mother/calf pairs
