Recommendations for a Cabo San Lucas Area Stay

There are two different areas to consider in Cabo San Lucas.

CABO SAN LUCAS
This is where Searcher docks on Day 12 of your tour. It’s a big city! There is an abundance of shopping, nightlife, music, tourist activities, tours, rental cars, and time-share opportunities here. The hotel prices are expensive at the places right on the marina and oceanfront.

There are some upscale resorts with spas and golf courses in the "Corridor,” which is along a gorgeous stretch of coastline between Cabo and San Jose del Cabo.  These resorts self-contained with restaurants and activities since they are a distance from town.

There is an bed and breakfast inn in the neighborhoods above Cabo San Lucas, which is about a 4 or 5 block walk from the waterfront activities. It is recommended by previous passengers.

Also in the heart of Cabo San Lucas is the Mar De Cortez, one of the original motels in the city. It is very basic and inexpensive. Previous passengers have called it adequate for a stay right in town, but its peace and quiet might be questionable.

SAN JOSE DEL CABO
This city is about 45 minutes out of Cabo San Lucas, towards the airport. It is quieter, has a bit of Mexican "village" feel. There is also a nice estuary for a bird walk in the mornings and a beach for walking. There is still shopping, though less overwhelming than Cabo San Lucas,  and a quaint town square. There are some fine restaurants and far fewer bars with loud music. We recommend this area!

A hotel convenient to taxi service, the estuary and the town plaza, we recommend Hotel Tropicana. It has nice rooms, great service, a pool, and a charming and delicious restaurant. It's not beachfront, but the estuary flows behind the hotel with a nice walking trail to the beach.

Another beautiful inn recommended by other passengers is El Encanto Inn.

We are told of condo rentals and other larger chain hotels along the beach in San Jose del Cabo.

TODOS SANTOS
A few hours outside of Cabo San Lucas is the beach town of Todos Santos. It is on the Pacific Coast and reaching it requires driving a rental car from Cabo. It has a remote feel and a beautiful beach. The town has an artsy vibe, and many American ex-pats live here. Be aware that the beach is quite distant from the town and its facilities. Restaurants to know about in Todos Santos are Las Fuentes and Il Giardino Pizzaria. For general information, check http://www.todossantos.com

Alegria Inn - http://www.alegriainn.net

This inn is west of town, within walking distance to the beach.

This is at the end of town, within walking distance to town.

For an oceanfront casita rental, email: cfolgmann@hotmail.com. The rate was $65 per night in 2009.
